My name is Steve and I live in the good old state of Iowa.  I went to the University of Northern Iowa where I majored in Computer Information Systems.  I now work as a network engineer by day and by night I teach networking classes as an adjunct instructor at a local business college. I have been a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer since Nov 24, 1997 and I continue to remain certified as new products arrive on the market.  I really enjoy networking, but they are not the only thing in my life.  I finished my MCSE 2000 in April of 2001 and I am currently pursuing Cisco certification.

On the weekends, my home computer doesn't even get turned on because the weekend is when my other hobbies take over.  During the summer months I am either playing softball in the local men's league three nights a week, or I am playing street hockey.  I also lift weights most nights of the week as I try to stay in the best shape I can.  In the winter, I usually continue to lift weights and play ice hockey, which is my favorite sport.  I can also be found out in the field with my faithful companion, Chewie, seeing if we can kick up a pheasant or two.

Scuba diving is a passion of mine but, living in Iowa, I don't get very many opportunities to get out on the water.  For this reason, I always make it a point to take some vacation to go scuba diving in Florida with my good friend Mike.  You can see my scuba adventures on Steve's Scuba Homepage.  Mike has since moved to Seattle, so I may try some other tropical spots that I haven't seen yet.  I am not much into fresh water or cold water diving, so that pretty much limits me to places closer to the equator.

I work on my vehicles almost every weekend of the year in some way or another because I always consider them "works in progress".  I find it a great stress reliever to spend time keeping my vehicle running in top form.  There is nothing quite like getting looks and gawks from people who can't believe that a 13 year old car can look that good or a V6 can be that ungodly fast.  That makes all the painstaking work and attention to detail worth it to me.

Another activity I enjoy is home improvement.  I purchased a home back in June of 1999 and I have been very interested in landscaping and general improvement.  I spend a lot of free time planning out new projects.  Even if they don't come to fruition, it is really fun to plan and dream.  As of February 2001, I am designing a new kitchen that should be installed by late April. Be on the lookout for my home improvement "before and after" page.

I also enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife, who is pictured below.  We were married May 18, 2002.  She is a really great girl and we always have a good time together.   She puts up with me spending so much time on the car and she has even been known to help me wrench on it every now and then.

Dawn drives a 2002 Buick Regal Grand Sport Joseph Abboud Edition.  It is powered by the Series II 3.8 liter supercharged V6.  The Regal produces 240 horsepower and 280 lb/ft of torque.  This means there is no engine in our garage that produces under 240hp, except the John Deere lawnmower.

Here are some pictures of my good buddy, Chewie.  He is a black labrador retriever born on 9/5/1999.   He is quite the character and he knows it, unfortunately...
